Battery technology

What the cells in an electric car are made of, how fast the pack loses capacity, and which of that a buyer can actually act on. Chemistry is recorded per car in the database, because it changes what the car asks of you: an LFP pack expects to be charged to 100% regularly, a nickel pack prefers a daily window below that, and the same advice given to both is wrong for one of them. Degradation is handled more carefully still. The figure on a car page is a projection built from a published study rather than a measurement of that model, and it is labelled as a projection wherever it appears; any estimate on this site says that it is one. The two pieces in this section: EV battery degradation: what 22,700 real cars show and solid-state vs LFP vs NMC: the battery chemistries that matter in 2026.
