FWD

Six FWD electric cars, compared on what each one actually costs to run. Drivetrain is the specification most often assumed to decide efficiency, and the spread below shows how much of the difference it really explains. On the EPA cycle the same cars rate 301 to 321 miles; that figure and the WLTP one are not comparable, which is what EPA against WLTP is about. Measured 10 to 80 per cent charging takes 30 to 37 minutes (every car ranked on that window). Every figure below names its source and the date it was read; the assumptions behind the cost arithmetic are on the methodology page.

At a glance

This archive lists 6 vehicles with published specification data. The shortest and longest sourced ranges are EPA 301 to 321 mi, with each test cycle kept separate. The fastest sourced 10–80% DC charging time is 30 minutes. Usable battery capacities run from 75 to 85 kWh, and the sourced cell chemistries are NMC, NCMA.
