SUV
Eleven electric SUVs are compared here on the measurements that decide running cost. They are the Ford Mustang Mach-E Extended Range RWD, Ford Mustang Mach-E Standard Range RWD, Hyundai Ioniq 5 84 kWh RWD, Kia EV6 84 kWh RWD, Kia EV9 99.8 kWh AWD, Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE 87 kWh, Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD, Tesla Model Y RWD, Toyota bZ4X AWD 73.1 kWh, Volkswagen ID.4 Pro and Volvo EX30 Single Motor Extended Range. Observed real-world range runs from 365 km in the Volvo EX30 Single Motor Extended Range to 475 km in the Ford Mustang Mach-E Extended Range RWD. On the EPA cycle the ten of them with a US rating rate 260 to 327 miles; that figure and the WLTP one are not comparable, which is what EPA against WLTP is about. Real-world efficiency, which is what decides the electricity bill, spans 158 to 221 Wh per km (the full efficiency ranking). Measured 10 to 80 per cent charging takes 17 to 48 minutes (every car ranked on that window). Every figure below names its source and the date it was read; the assumptions behind the cost arithmetic are on the methodology page.
At a glance
This archive lists 24 vehicles with published specification data. The shortest and longest sourced ranges are EPA 260 to 410 mi; WLTP 534 to 534 km, with each test cycle kept separate. The fastest sourced 10–80% DC charging time is 17 minutes. Usable battery capacities run from 60 to 142.3 kWh, and the sourced cell chemistries are NMC, NCM, NCMA, LFP.
A body style groups vehicles by shape, not by battery or charging performance. Compare rows only where a value is present and use the linked model page to inspect its sources.
